DiaSorin PNP Laboratory Renovation Transforming a 1200 Sq Ft Lab into a Clean Room
A general-use lab does not become a clean room by changing one finish. It takes tighter control of air, access, dust, surfaces, and construction activity.
The DiaSorin PNP Laboratory renovation covered 1,200 square feet and converted an active laboratory area into a cleaner, more controlled room. The work included epoxy floors, a HEPA filtration system, an interlock door system, temporary containment walls, and careful phasing so the facility could keep operating during construction.
The goal was a cleaner and more controlled lab space
The existing room had served as a general-use laboratory area. That meant the renovation had to address more than appearance. The finished space needed surfaces that could be cleaned more easily and systems that supported cleaner airflow and controlled entry.
This type of work sits at the center of clean room commercial construction. The final room must perform as a system. Floors, walls, ceilings, doors, air handling, and construction sequencing all affect the outcome.
For this project, the main upgrades included:
Epoxy flooring for a smooth, durable, cleanable surface
HEPA filtration to improve air cleanliness in the space
Interlock doors so only one door could open at a time
Temporary walls to separate active construction from occupied areas
Phased coordination to allow facility use during construction
The project did not start with a vacant building and a blank schedule. Work took place inside an active facility. That raised the level of planning.
Noise, dust, access routes, shutdowns, material staging, and tie-ins all had to be managed. A clean buildout can fail if the construction process contaminates the very space it is meant to improve.
The final step was tying the room together
Clean room renovation is not finished when the last major system is installed. The final stage is coordination. Every piece has to work together.
This is where planning shows. A room can look complete but still need final detailing, adjustments, cleaning, inspections, and owner coordination.
For a 1,200 sq ft lab, small misses can have a large effect. An unsealed transition, poor access panel location, damaged floor area, or door sequencing issue can create problems after turnover. The goal is a room that works on day one, not a room that needs a long punch list to become usable.
