Passageways Emergency Shelter Program offers 6 units of shelter for youth ages 12-17 who are victims of sex trafficking.
Crystal, MN - The Link supports youth and families experiencing homelessness, young people who are survivors of sex trafficking, and youth who are involved in the juvenile justice system.
The Passageways Emergency Shelter and Housing Program created by The Link provides specialized shelter for youth ages 12 to 17 and long-term supportive housing for youth of all gender identities who are ages 16 to 24 (including parenting youth with children) who are victims of sex trafficking.
Prime General Contractors was engaged to fully remodel a 1900 square foot 1950s built home in Crystal Minnesota that was a good fit for the Passageways program.
The complete remodel included the exterior and interior. The home boasts private outdoor space, new exterior sport court and Mega Slam basketball equipment and a full landscape renovation and site work package. The exterior structural improvements included new siding, windows, accessibility railings, a new roof with fascia, a privacy fence and new hard surfaces including walkways and basketball court area.
Coordination was required for the new XCEL underground electrical service from old overhead service, including a new electrical distribution panel. This posed a challenge as the construction team operated without electrical service during construction and utilized generators. Coordination was also needed with the Owner's vendor to establish low voltage security systems including multiple camera installations.
Interior improvements included 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and office space. Utilities, fixtures, walls, flooring, lighting, appliances and counters were completely renovated and newly replaced.
Phase II will include a complete remodel of the detached garage.
